Elf on the Shelf Inspiration

Elf on the Shelf seems to be more popular than ever this holiday season! Never heard of Elf on the Shelf? Based on the 2005 book Elf on a Shelf: A Holiday Tradition, Elf on the Shelf lets families “adopt” one of Santa’s elves and bring his or her magic to life by giving the elf a name. The elf is one of Santa’s “scout elves,” a type of elf who watches over homes throughout the day to help Santa make his Naughty and Nice List. At night, the elf goes back to the North Pole to report to Santa. But, he’s often gotten himself into trouble by the time he’s come back in time for his family to wake up!  Our elf is named Elfie (real original, I know). It’s a good thing he’s so cute, because he’s always getting into mischief! Elf on the Shelf is a total hit with kids — but in my opinion, you’re never too old to get some laughs from his antics.

Here’s what our Elf on the Shelf has been up to…
